Visits occur monthly from August 2018 through May 2019. In addition to ticket sales, there is an opportunity to support the Family Visitation Program through sponsorship. All sponsors will be recognized at the event.

YPB believes Foreverfamily’s work is important because:

• Over 100,000 kids in Georgia have an incarcerated parent
• On average, kids live more than 100 miles from where their parent is incarcerated
• Foreverfamily serves low income families for whom reliable transportation is a challenge–if the Family Visitation Program didn’t exist, kids would not get to see their parents
• The average sentence for a woman in Georgia is 4-6 years; most women are mothers of school-aged children and are non-violent offenders
• Research shows regular in-person visitation improves outcomes that carry into adulthood

This program serves Atlanta’s most vulnerable children-those with incarcerated parents-by providing them transportation to see their incarcerated parent once a month. Foreverfamily provides the children with door to door transportation, breakfast, snacks, a pillow, a blanket and activities for the two-hour bus ride, and trained volunteer chaperones. Kids visit with their parents from 9am-3pm. These visits are pivotal in maintaining a strong, positive relationship between parent and child.
