VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We are often asked if we have a wish list — and yes, we do! Below are our organization’s ongoing needs. We thank you for helping us ensure that every child gets what they deserve: our very best and lots of love.

Ongoing · Remote-Friendly
Birthday Greetings
Create physical birthday cards that can be mailed in a regular-sized envelope, or design digital cards sized to be texted directly to children and caregivers on their birthdays. You’ll cover the cost of materials; we’ll deliver the love.

Administrative Support
Assist staff at our program site — processing information requests, developing volunteer opportunities, matching individuals with assignments, answering phones, filing, light typing, and sending thank-you cards to volunteers and donors.

Every 2nd Saturday · 5am–6:30pm
Family Visitation Program
Chaperone children on prison visits, helping facilitate activities between parents and children, serving lunch inside the facility, and surrounding kids with love and support throughout a meaningful 13-hour day.
Family Visitation Program — In Depth
Every 2nd Saturday (excluding January, June, July) · 5:00 am – 6:30 pm
Strengthening bonds
one visit at a time
FVP provides children with the opportunity to visit their incarcerated parents on a consistent basis — strengthening family bonds, increasing children’s self-esteem, and improving their likelihood of becoming successful adults.
Volunteer chaperones commit to a 13-hour day: interacting with kids on the bus, facilitating parent-child activities inside the prison, serving lunch, and surrounding every child with warmth and care.
You can also help prepare food and activities the Friday before the trip, or assist with the monthly birthday party held after the visit.
FVP Volunteer Roles
Trip Prep Volunteer
Assist staff in the weeks before prison visits — gathering activities and packing items for the children’s shoebox lunches.
Morning Volunteer
Arrive at 5:00 am to set up breakfast, assist with the Traveler’s Club (kindles, pillows, blankets), and spend time with the children before departure to make sure they feel comfortable and cared for.
Prison Trip Chaperone
The full-day commitment. Chaperone children during the prison visit — the most impactful role we offer. Your presence makes every child feel seen, supported, and loved.
Post-Trip Birthday Party
Help host our monthly birthday celebration for the children when they return from the trip. A joyful way to cap a meaningful day.

Background Check
Because we serve children, all volunteers are background-checked through First Advantage. Prior criminal history must be disclosed — it doesn’t automatically disqualify you.
Prior criminal history? If you have any criminal involvement in your history (arrest or conviction), please disclose this by emailing mharris@foreverfam.org before applying. It does not necessarily prevent you from volunteering, but must be processed differently.
Questions? Email us to learn how you, your family, coworkers, friends, or faith community can get involved.
