What We Do: For Our Parents

Our parents can find support services at Foreverfamily to help them stay connected with their families and stay on track to a productive life.

Parent Education

For parents coming out of prison, our Foreverfamily staff and volunteers provide support services including assistance with finding appropriate clothing, understanding current social trends and coping with the readjustment to society. Our parents also have access to a 24-hour, 7-day-a-week bilingual hotline for emergency referral through United Way’s 211. Foreverfamily partnered with United Way to provide 211 information specialists with training on the unique needs of families affected by parental incarceration

Special Programming in Atlanta

While Foreverfamily has helped children for over twenty-three years connect with their incarcerated parents through prison based family visitation, what’s different in our Atlanta affiliate is that we’re bringing our services right into the heart of the neighborhood. Our youth-oriented out-of-school programs held at Foreverfamily Atlanta, which is located inside the Heritage Station Apartment community in Southwest Atlanta, focus on helping children develop their educational, interpersonal and leadership skills as well as enriching their experience with cultural and recreational activities through a two day a week program and an out-of-urban summer camp experience. Foreverfamily Atlanta is the only affiliate that provides services to the children and families beyond our core services of family visits inside the prisons and classes for the incarcerated parents.
